Our second production of the summer will be the ever popular double-bill of Rustic Chivalry(Cavalleria Rusticana) and The Clowns(I Pagliacci). Both one acts reflect the eternal operatic triangle.

In Rustic Chivalry, Santuzza is rejected by her lover, Turiddu, in favor of the spiteful Lola with calamitous results for all. In The Clowns, Canio is overwhelmed by grief and jealousy when he discovered that Nedda, his young wife, plans to run away with another man.

This is the first time since 1956 that both operas are presented in Norton Hall as the popular double-bill. The production is a new one and our casts are thrilling. Don't miss Chautauqua Opera's only Norton Hall production this summer, sung in English with English supertitles.
