Handicap Accessible - Norton Hall is handicap accessible. Patrons with special needs may be dropped off in front of Norton Hall. Please obtain a limited-time street permit from the Main Gate of the Institution for the drop off. Visitors may park in lots near the entrance gates of The Institution, either Hurst or the Main Gate for a fee. The Institution provides regularly scheduled complimentary shuttle bus and tram service on the grounds during the season. Please note that during the season short-term handicapped parking permits may be obtained upon arrival at the Main Gate Welcome Center Ticket Office and there are a limited number of handicap parking spaces in the back of Norton Hall.
Wheelchair and companion seating is available only in the Orchestra section. For those who can transfer from a wheelchair to a seat, the areas at each end of most of the orchestra rows are also accessible. Please be sure to discuss special needs when ordering tickets.
Restrooms - Restrooms are available in the lobby of Norton Hall and in Bratton Theatre next door.
Pay Phones - A pay phone is available in the lobby of Norton Hall.
Intermission Refreshments - During intermission bottled water is for sale at the ticket booth in front of Norton Hall.
Opera Guild Boutique - The Chautauqua Opera Guild maintains a boutique of Chautauqua Opera t-shirts, aprons, mugs and fans as well as many more products. The boutique is open ½ hour before curtain time and during intermission only.

Directions To Chautauqua Opera Center - The Chautauqua Institution is located in the southwestern corner of New York State. Click here for Google Map directions or follow the information below.
- From the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90) - take exit 60, toward Westfield/Mayville, turn left onto NY-394/North Portage Street. Continue to follow NY-394 for approx 11 miles. Look for Turner Community Center on your left and Andriaccio’s Italian Eatery on your right. Continue past the entrance to Shaw Laundry. There is a beige building viewable from the road and then gated entrance to the Jane A. Gross Opera Center. Turn right into the driveway and use the buzzer to call the office to raise the gate arm.
- From the Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86/Route 17) – if eastbound, take Exit 7 (Panama/Chautauqua Institution), turn left onto CR-33 for approx. 5 miles, then right onto West Lake Rd./NY-394 for approx. 1 miles. Look for Turner Community Center directly in front and Andriaccio’s Italian Eatery on your right. Continue past the entrance to Shaw Laundry. There is a beige building viewable from the road and then gated entrance to the Jane A. Gross Opera Center. Turn right into the driveway and use the buzzer to call the office to raise the gate arm.
- From the Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86/Route 17) – if westbound, take NY 394 exit- EXIT 8, toward Mayville/Lakewood, turn right onto West Lake Rd./NY-394 for approx. 5 miles. Past the multi-columned Main Gate building of the Institution on the right there is a gated parking lot on the left and directly after that is the Jane A. Gross Opera Center. Turn left into the gated driveway and use the buzzer to call the office to raise the gate arm.
